No reason to IMHO. Maybe if you come down on top of a 4-6 wave and your spine shoots thru your head.

Used them for years. We did come down on top of 6 foot waves - repeatedly.

I think they really cleaned up the throttle response when bouncing over rough water. Holey used to make some off-road float bowls, these were standard in them.

Any special adjustment different from the standard ones?

No different adjustment.
Install them. Pull the float adjustment plugs. Adjust normally. Reinstall the bowl plugs.
Enjoy.

I think think they are great on a hard-hammering boat.

Sorry to revive slightly old thread.... But the spring keeps the needle closed more consistently?
