So as far as my boat choices go what power would you guys want.

Most of the Baja I’m finding have 496s

most of the fountains have 500hps

The one I’m most interested in right now is a 1999 35 lighting with fresh 500 hps it is carb but man there BN the boat has been stored for the last 7 years it’s in great shape stringers are good. I’m definitely thinking about flying out to take a look while the boat is accessible.

More of a carb guy myself.

And that's a nice boat!

I can understand that, but even a small increase in strength the lifter should be able to handle. I'm sure I'm opening a can of worms with this - and I'm more than positive this has been discussed before. We can just leave this one to die here.

The Fountain looks to have a waterline stain about 8 inches up on the cabin carpet.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a carb.
The only time fuel injection has a clear advantage is on motors with big cams and a lot of overlap around the docks at low speed.
None of the combos listed have enough overlap to confuse a carb.
Now, there's a big difference between a properly set up carb and a carb out of a box from Summit.
Cold starts would be the only other area where FI has an advantage.
Oh. And if you regularly boat in lakes with substantially different altitudes.

Is it a waterline at first glance I thought it was shadow. But when I zoom in. I did a internet search and I see where others talk about this. From boats sitting on trailers flat out side. Some were saying the windshield and rub rails were the reasons. Not sure what think
