A -10 female stainless fitting ? That's why I'm asking about the aluminum AN fittings being used for fuel. I would much prefer to have all my fuel fittings in SS or brass. I'm not crazy about aluminum fittings failing and having a fuel leak. |

Does it make sense to use 5/8" hose when the pick up is only 3/8"? I run all my fuel hoses in AN fittings ( 50psi pressure) don`t see an issue with it., never had an issue. you`re runing what 7psi? , if you can make oil lines with 80psi and 225* oil , you`ll be just fine with 7psi fuel. IF your worried about being USCG legal, no AN hose or pushlock that I know of is USCG rated . At 550 hp I would convert the -10 to the size hose you have attached to water separator, if its 3/8 ID, buy a female -10 x 3/8 adapter, IF its 1/2" ID, -10 by 1/2". Most USCG rubber fuel line is much thicker then you realize and smaller ID, IE, I would swear the 3/8 line was bigger because the rubber is so thick, Smitty

Yes on my whpple 525's he ran 5/8 ID fuel hose from the pickups. I can take pics of mine if that'll help you out..

I didn't realize the fittings actually weren't rated. I questioned Hardin about the push on hose they sell. It's description says marine grade, but his reply was it is NOT USCG approved. This somewhat confusing for me. Will most likely go this route with 1/2" hose. Thank you for taking the time to post. I can see how you're confused. I was originally looking into 1/2" pick up as that's what my engine builder wanted. But after posting this thread I saw how much of a PITA installing a 1/2" PU in a stock tank would be. All the replies on here said my 550 HP would be fine with 3/8" hose. So I opted to go with Eddie Young's pick up tube. All SS and a true 3/8" from tip to outlet. (although it does have a 90* restriction) Wasn't so much worried about pressure, but more corrosion with aluminum. That's why I really wanted to stay SS or brass for fuel fittings.
