Default Alternatives to running or flushing 496 on hose "ear muff"?

What setup do you use to running 496 on the hose? I sometimes see folks running the hose into the engine compartment. I imagine you can install a hose attachment before the engine mounted water pump. Does anyone have a picture of this type of setup?

Thanks

You can install a flush kit that which will Tee into the hose that supplies the raw water pump. Eddie Marine sells a few kits that include everything you need, including the garden hose hookups.

I use a connection on my sea strainers. One of the best things installed on mine, since it catches stuff before it gets to the sea pump and I can use it to run the motors on the hose.

I made my own flushing set-up. I bought a pc. of the red hose and the plastic quick connectors on ebay. I added a tee with a garden hose fitting. I simply disconnect the red hose in front of the water pump and I stick my other pc. in to the plastic quick connect. Works like a charm. I had tried the Perko plastic flush kit I bought but the orange anti-freeze made it brittle and it broke.

2nd the perko one.

I've considered installing a second one with a valve so I can flush without running the engines.
