Mercury Clean Power Harness for DTS motors draining battery
I have Mercury 565 engines that have the clean power harness wired directly to the battery, it provides clean battery power to the DTS system. Problem is I keep my boat in rack storage and if I dont use it for a few weeks the battery gets too low to start the motor. Has anyone had the same issue and or can I disconnect the direct line from the battery, via a breaker or switch, when the boat goes into storage. This power line keeps computer powered and I can also see my voltage and fuel level meters are energized.

Clean Power should NOT be the cause of the battery drain. If you see gauges powered up with the batteries switched off, then something is not rigged correctly.
A switch is not recommended in the clean power connections. It is supposed to be directly to the battery. |
I was told today buy mercury racing clean power powers the ECU and it is normal to power the fuel and volts gauge as well as the ignition switches. They also told me that leaving the boat unused for 3-4 weeks could cause battery to be low.

News to me. But if that's what Merc Racing told you I guess it's better than what I thought I knew. Why didn't you ask them if you could install a switch?

I did since i posted this and they said I could put in a switch but it must be direct to battery, there have been others with the same issue. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same
