Anyone ever provide a 496 harness?

Jimbo,

I don't mean to step on any toes or derail the thread, and if OP is working on a 496 kit, more power to you. One is sorely needed. But...

I am currently in the process of a 496 rebuild after a piston failure, which includes a Holley HP conversion. We are not doing a kit, but simply retrofitting mine to work with existing sensors, triggers, etc... Engine builder says he's got this. I will send you a PM with the details when we get it done.

Thanks. Brad.

Hey, Brad.

While they both utilize the 555 the harnesses are wildly different. The 496 is closer to a LS1 than a 525.

With that being said, I could produce them as well. I just need a sample harness with notations for what each connector plugs onto.

Precision,

I will soon have an OEM 555/496 harness I could loan you if you wanted, but I'd need it back at your earliest convenience, as I intend to sell it along with the ECM once my rebuild is complete and running. LMK....

Thanks. Brad.

Much appreciated Brad! I just had mine rebuilt with raylar heads, cam, forged pistons/rods and added o2 bungs. Pros of swapping out PCM555 probably outweigh benefits of reprogramming it. Looking forward to hearing how your setup works.

Sorry I missed some of your responses.

I sent some of you PM's, but if anyone needs something feel free to email me at [email protected].

As you can tell, I don't get on the board much.

I have a second generation harness in prototype right now. It actually adapts the OEM harness to a HEFI ecu. I'm working out some kinks as they pertain to the SC models and the boost control, but I expect to have that sorted by year end.

This solution will make the process much easier as you will not need to replace the whole harness. For those that are wanting to replace the Mercury harness for one of our complete harnesses this is still available, as well as custom solutions for other aftermarket power adder kits like Whipple. The website will be getting an upgrade in the next few months with online shopping after we finish some of our other catalogue parts.

I am currently planning out a build for my 496HO utilizing the PSI 8.8L shortblock with 8.8 CNC heads with Hank Slocum. I was told by Trey at River Speed and Marine that an N/A build would eventually be limited by the PCM555 due to the inability to tune for extra fuel demand. They were only able to get maybe 575hp on a max effort N/A build. However, by utilizing a whipple 3.3 kit, they are able to "trick" the PCM into supplying enough fuel for proper AFRs with forced induction....

I would rather stay N/A if possible, and it sounds like this plugNplay harness you're working on would solve the fueling issues.
