Trailer bunk covering

The carpeting on my trailer bunks is getting bad. The bunks themselves are fine. Replacing the carpet is an option but I see there are more options such ss plastic glides, covers etc. Anyone have good...or bad experiences and what brand?

Thanks,

Padrwig

Well...no suggestions for anything better then carpet so I better get some ordered. Carpet does seem to be what the trailer manufacturers use.

I used black astroturf from lowes.

One of my friends put those 'slide' things on his bunks...I think they are like some sort of nylon plastic...and swears by them. The only disadvantage he found was that he used to power-load his boat and the first time he did this with the slides he went up and over the front bow roller, lol! Much less friction, evidently.

I've used this place in the past because it can be purchased in 12, 18, 24 wide and various lengths.

I'm sure there's other places... just search.

I replaced the bunks on my Owen and Sons with wood sent from them. When asked about the plastic, they cautioned me about using it. It’s very slippery and can cause issues during retrieval especially with a heavy boat. I used black bunk carpet - no issues.

Thanks everybody! I am going to go with carpet. Probably be a little conservative but carpeting has always worked well for me and the boat, jn summer, is kept on a lift so carpet gets to dry between trips.

PA.WOODCHUCK Nice trailer supply site. Good prices. Thanks!

Good pricing at that site on carpet.

I just bought some Here, straight out of Dalton, GA.
It's 18 oz vs 12 oz at the trailer site.
So I guess that's a whole other debate.

Just finished the first bunk. Getting the old crap off and staple removal was the worst part. The wood was in good condition. Purchased a $39 Harbor Freight cordless staple gun...works great. Saved time and easy to use when laying under trailer.
