Outdrives issue?

Weird thing happened. I was backing into a slip with my 36 outlaw. Twin 496 hOs. Bravo 1 X drives. I was using the forward on port side and reverse on starboard side frantically back and forth. I put both in reverse and got stuck in reverse as well steering was very tight. Shut the boat down started it up and it was fine the rest of the weekend. Should I be worried? I been thinking about this dang boat all week. Lol thanks for any input

I had a drive that wouldn’t come out of forward once. **** the engine off and got it to come out of gear and never happened again. Not sure why your steering would get tight though

It could be that in shifting from forward to reverse frantically one of your engines lost idle and shut down and you didnt notice it in the heat of the moment. This would also cause steering to be tight if it was the motor with your power steering pump.

Agree, did one of the engines stall? I just had this happen this past Sunday, but shutting down and starting back up didn't fix my problem 😬

The engine with the power steering pump died. Steering got stiff, drive wouldn't shift.
Normal for a Bravo.
Of they aren't running, they will shift in and out of gear okay. If they are running, the torque "locks" the cones in the clutch and gear, so when it dies already in gear, it's murder to get it back out (and can stretch your shift cable pushing hard on the sticks).
I actually installed a bypass for the neutral switch so that I could crank while putting light pressure on the shifter. Worked great for those times that it did stall in gear.
