Pump is together with new wear plates, Ran boat on the hose and it held 5 psi at idle which is about all the water my well and long hose can supply. Gonna try to splash it in the morning with fingers crossed. It's cheaper on eBay!

If that is correct, then maybe you ran over a plastic bag and it wrapped itself around the drive shutting off the water. Bag falls off while being towed in. When bag blocked water flow, it created a very high vacuum within the pump inlet hoses and caused the inner and outer plys to separate from each other within a short section of hose. for whats its worth, i have the same hardin pumps as you and i have found they do not like even slight damage or even old/ stiff vanes. yours may have looked ok but i couldnt get a two year old one to suck water off the hose

No good. I had high hopes when it held 5-6 psi at the dock but when I planed out it never went over 5 psi. It's not a gauge problem. The headers were getting hot. The collapsing intake hose sounds like the next thing to look at. I assume the hose on the outside of the boat would be the more likely culprit? Either one looks like they will be a b*tch to replace.

If you have the hard wall intake hose its not going to collapse. On plane water is being pushed into the holes on the drive. Not getting much flow I would suspect Bravoits or the intake transom hose is kinked

Bravoits can be seen from the inside but need to remove the fitting that the hard wall hose attaches. This is one which the salt water has about closed it up completely

Fortunately this is a fresh water only boat that I bought new in 2005. Replacing either hose looks very difficult and it's guesswork. So the potential problem is the inner wall of the hose broken down and closing it off when water is flowing. Could I eliminate this potential problem by pulling the drive and putting a water hose on the intake end and opening the sea strainer and see if the flow stops or slows down? Backflushing indicates no blockage. Also, if there is no blockage, wouldn't the boat moving at a decent speed through the water create more than enough volume and pressure and at this point the raw water pump would actually serve to lower the pressure?

Id hook a water hose to inlet side of the strainer to eliminate the aft hose and drive pickup, you dont have a fresh water flush ?

Did you check circulating pump? Was there any rubber smell in the bilge or other indicators of circulating pump locked up? Would a bad thermostat lock up and prevent water flow inside the motor?

Found it! So glad I didn't have to change those hoses! Thanks for all the help.
