High oil temp
 

Just put the stage two Whipples on my merc 525s and oil temperature is running up to 220. Cannot figure out what’s causing it.
please help

220 I dont think is considered high.. I added oil thermostats so my oil would run 220*. Anything less and I don't think you will burn off any condensation.

where were they before

This ^ as 220f in of itself is perfectly fine for an oil temp.

My 500 temps are between 200-225
for what it is worth

Oil temps go up with load / rpm. 220F at idle would be high. 220F under sustained load is fine.

30*f not bad for 200+hp increase. HP is heat. And again 220*f for max oil temp is tony the tiger grrrrrreeeeeeaaaaat.

I run 190-95 on a long pull 25-27 miles @ 70-75 with stock coolers but Im not running closed cooling, running Whipple water pump delete no stat and 2 stage pump

Mine get to 220 after about 15 miles of cruise. I don't think that's high and I don't think the engineers at Mobil 1 do either.....

220 is great!!

Before of after cooler? I don't know where they are located.
And 220°F is a no go for me after the cooler.

Agreed. After the cooler would not be a good temp.

For the OP’s 525, there is a sensor above the oil filter pad for oil temp and should be a part of smartcraft. If it’s reading from there, then it’s right out of the engine... same for the oil pan rail port just ahead of and closest to the filter pad (mine get temp from there).

If the temps are coming from via smartcraft, I’d say they’re good to go.
