Chrome Paint
For those of us playing in this sport on a shoe string budget like me, I love finding money saving tricks.
Rustoleum recently came out w/a “chrome” paint in rattle can that is very good! Not like back in the day where it was just silver. Large jobs I still spray w/a gun and real paint but on small, I use rattle cans where I can. Did one version of my ram air system for my MGB car w/it and it looked great! Also did the center caps in my tow pig, 6 months ago and still going strong. The one negative is it’s a soft paint. Their standard rattle can stuff is very very good and resistant to abrasion as good as anything from a rattle can and you would be shocked at what I’ve gotten away with painting with their rattle cans. You wouldn’t know by looking at it. Did the wife’s wheels on her jeep wrangler six years ago and they still look new! And have done probably a dozen sets of wheels the same way with the same success. Anyhow thought you guys might like this. Great for something that’s cosmetic, not in a high traffic area etc. The picture is of my ram air 4.0 version for the MG. Its painted PVC pipe. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8a99157a3.jpeg |
I'm always looking for ideas/experience!

I think it would pass as stainless too.

Jus for fun.
I gamble it added 1 - 2 Hp. But when your starting with 80————-, I’ll take it! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...45b521376.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...80b5f6eef.jpeg |

Thx.
Its my therapy. ’74 MGB Wanted one forever and this one surface locally last spring. Being in Ohio, they’re all rust buckets so Pickens are slim. This is a, probably 10 yr old restoration. Im shopping for a spare motor for it to build/hot rod. Thing is an absolute blast to drive and almost as much fun to work on. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...45e84e6ee.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0302dbe94.jpeg

Thank you for the real world use/result of the product. I bought some of Eastwoods chrome recently, but have yet to try it.
2% increase in HP is pretty good for some plastic pipe and paint! Adds mental HP as well, which is priceless Looks like fun to me! |
Hilarious too that I am debating some establishment MG types on the users forum on what I am doing.
They type 2 pages on why it won’t work! Just told them to bring their MGB and race me 0 - 60 😂🤓😎 Took me 4 tries to get it but I’m definitely there. Or actually, very close. W/what I’d done before the ram/cold air, it would pull cleanly to 5500 in all gears. Which is good for the tractor motor in the MGB. W/the ram air it will now pull 6k in 1st before you’re ready to shift! Way cool stuff. For next to nothing! Sometimes it pays to be a red neck! Almost gave up on the MG idea because it was all about me building a hot rod motor for one and I studied the motor! What a turd! Bigger stroke than bore, siamesed intake and exhaust ports, 3’ long rods….. You couldn’t pick a worse 4 banger to hot rod! W/what this thing is showing me, for how much air it wants, through 1.5” carburetors………, I am stunned. On the toy side though, they’re still cheap, parts are easier to find and cheaper than for your wife’s Honda! I can go out in the shop w/a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning while the Mrs is still sleeping, for a 1/2 hr, and find something to fix/improve/update. And I go back in the house w/a smile on my face. Fun too that growing up as a muscle car guy, always thought these cars were “cute” but turds. Now I get it. The factory owners manual lists front/rear weight bias! Within 2 lbs! A blast to slide around corners! A new Corvette I couldn’t drive at 5/10’s, this thing you can drive at 10/10ths and you’re only doing 60!

Twin,
I'm not sure what they use. They are VERY tight-lipped about it, though.... Chrome painted guitar Thanks. Brad. (937)545-8991 |
