Cracked manifold ?
Well just got my Baja running on the new engine / blower set up but it seems like excessive steam / vapor ? This was running on ~50 degree water from hose (we are on a well) and temperature was in the 50s. Does this seem normal or should I be looking for another set of manifolds over the winter ?
Thanks, Nick |
Seems like a bit much especially if that was a cold start. Pressure test of manifolds would be best way to know if they're leaking or not.

It was warm, I was playing with the tune and idle a bit so wife grabbed a video after one of the starts. Would a pressure test be about the same as testing for boost leaks in a car? Cap all water ports and make sure it holds pressure up to 40-50psi?

That’s pretty normal for well water going through a warm engine.
I normally pressure test headers at 40 psi |
Yeah, if it was warm then I don't think I'd be too worried about that. Can't hurt to pressure test anyway.
Yes, cap all the ports, bleed air out at the highest port so there's no air space left, then pressurize. |
careful reving the engine suck the hose dry you'll be rebuilding the sea pump.....

I don't think that is excessive steam for water and air temps in the 50's.
It doesn't look like you have very much water coming out the exhaust though. |

oh interesting you pressure test with water. I was going to todo air like i would on my car. That way if it leaks air goes into the cylinder not water. Should net same results right?
