i would pay almost any amount of money if Merc, or aftermarket, would make a dependable, accurate, simple rheostat like the ones they have always had, except ones that work good, and are reliable. We can put a man on the moon 45 or 50 years ago, but can't make a waterproof rheostat. Come on now. Sure a good rheostat is cheaper than the mechanical indicators.

Would be nice to see the drive indicators showing them all the way up, but easily and accurately readable at running trim like the mechanical ones. Wires weight much less than all that mechanical crap, and no extra hole thru the transom. Got over 50 holes already.

Indicators

Livorsi makes a electric conversion from old cable indicators cost $2,6000.00 is the thought they are even more inaccurate than cable indicators so not worth the money. would new cable help solve my inaccurate indicators.
tks

Livorsi does not service the old versions either so if you have a mechanical version and the display is shot (in my case the bezel is slightly corroded and the display sometimes sticks) you cannot buy a replacement. The only thing they offer is the new electronic version and the bezels are not interchangeable they say even though they look identical. Very disappointing I have to re rig the whole boat for such a simple deal.

thanks for input

Yeah I sense your frustration. Surely they could make a good rheostat type at the factory with nothing but one wire, but nope they don't. And with a gauge thats very accurate and readable , but nope they dont. All those little things add up weight in a boat, and weight kills the fell of a boat.. Probably be a whole lot less money to build a rheostat/wire/guage type. Oh yeah, that's why they don't do it. Don't make enough money. My rant over. Thanks for listening. Lol. Have a good day.

Actually today Merc uses a hall effect sensor for both tabs & drives. It's 3 wires and seems to be accurate and reliable. The Livorsi led display hooks right up to them. Unfortunately the price to convert everything is not cheap.
