Does this look like it’s on enough? Don’t want to hit those screws and it’s getting closehttps://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...407c09f332.jpg

It will not go down far enough to hit the screws. The rotor will bottom out on the shaft.

The wheel be be a c hair over the inside plastic post of sensor. That’s why i like to sand off corrosion on the dist shaft and in the notch in the shaft. Rotor will still be tight but much easier to slide down and to feel when it’s all the way down. Again, top flat part of shiny reluctor wheel will be a hair higher than the sensor posts. Any further down it woukd rub it, which it won’t. Red arrow points to sensor post i’m referencing.

edit: got it off but the sensors look a little different…

Mercruiser updated the sensor many years ago. The one you are removing is the old , original style. The one you are installing is the new style. It has a seperate ground and the sensor is encased in plastic and epoxy vs being open to the elements like the original style.

I appreciate all the help and patience, now I’ll be able to do this in the future on my own. Thanks SB
