This is the 1st time I noticed this. Rear main seal now?. He installed felpro rear main seals the blue ones. Unless the guy put them in backwards? So I checked the oil level and it was only down maybe 1/8 of a quart @ 1 hour run time
Is it possible that that breakin crankcase pressure blow by caused the pan gasket to open and let out oil in the back corner of the engine. Windage shooting oil onto the flywheel because it seems like the oil leak is getting less. My total hours are 12. Maybe there was a lot of blow by in the beginning and now the rings and everything finally seated.

Very doubtful. Very very doubtful. If you had that kind of blowby it would still have excessive blowby. He said he put silicone on the one piece gasket in the corners. Most likely why it leaks.

I used the Felpro 1-piece gasket and the instructions said to use a spot of sealant at the transition corners (rear seal housing, GEN VI, and the timing cover).

I really don't know what he did. I wasn't there watching him. It looks like there is sealant on the pan by he front timing chain cover. No leak there and very difficult to check the rear. I am amazed I got to the lower bell housing. We will soon find out. The machine shop guy has been in business for 55 years, Boat engines, auto engines, Ferrari engines, Jaguars and many others. He has done other engines for me with no issues. He had these engines for 2.5 months. I lost 3/4 of my summer. Just my luck...Now back to square one.. Engines out again.
Big question. AT WHOS EXPENSE?

I wouldn’t say square one. You’re original square one was a horrible mess. Just putting a positive on this. :wink

Yuk, I have heard mixed results on the one pc oil pan gaskets. I have not had an issue with them but some guys do. I have been using the Fel Pro ones. One of my friends at another machine shop has started smoke testing every engine right on the stand. Thinking about getting a smoke machine and doing the same thing. Running them on the dyno every time would probably catch little things too.

I agree about the Dyno but he sold his years ago.

Well he is coming to my place to check the engines and probably fix whatever needs to be done. But getting the forklift and someone to help me get these out "Costs"

And to top all this off a small leak on remote oil filter adapter of starboard motor. I changed both gaskets.

Blue is dye. If it was the rear main seal I don't think it would show on the flywheel cover??

It looks like there's blue along the oil pan mounting rail/bottom of the block?

I don't see any alternative to pulling this motor out.
