Jason - do you recall what your int runners came in at after porting + - ? The 408 I have with the j302 heads has so damm much torque I thought if I got into the 220 + might help me being old school car and 4 speed manual trans. I believe the j302’s were like 170 cc but not sure where they ended up. I need to pull one and cc it before getting heads I think.

We never actually measured them. It was minimal porting, just light blending. He was happy with them out of the box, but you know Valako he can't not clean them up a little. I'd be surprised if they weren't just a bit over 180cc.

what is the engine combo and drive train?
69 Mach 1 currently 3:55 gears - top loader. I need to tighten up the car cause my hands are full keeping it in line. I talked to valako and he did have a bunch of time into the heads and I’d have to agree by the response. Never thought I’d appreciate the new school muscle but i do. Bought a 2016 challenger and it’s like dang … wish this set up was in the Mach 1. I need to tighten up this car so it holds the road. It drifts to the right / left and like everywhere and near a 180 deg. No rookie driving old school but perhaps a lil much hp for stock. |
do you know the alignment specs? I have worked and or owned a bunch of mustangs and the front suspension is little more than a good john deere tractor. my buddies 70 fastback now has a strut front end with a tubular cradle and lower a-arms which also allow for a lot more positive caster. these old cars were set up with negative caster which makes them drive like a crappy shopping cart but most will not allow 5 degrees of positive due to the design. my 60 caddy we were only able to get it to about 1 degree positive caster but it drives pretty nice and easy.

Also, make sure the steering box is tight. Over the years, a lot of those loosen up and you get a lot of slop in the steering.

had to ask my buddy but the kit he used is from AJE. it uses struts like the fox body but you remove the motor mounts and the tubular cradle has the new mounts on it. this kit keeps the shock towers.
