Oil Prime BBC
Don't see oil coming out of push rods
Figuring it won't come out of all because some are not in port to fill them. Used priming tool and its leaking all around the top, so added 1/2 a piece of electrical tape to seal upper. Leak was reduced but still nothing up the rods |
rotate the engine 1/4 turn as you prime it , it takes a while last 2 I did took about 45 min each.......1/2 drill and put it on auto pilot

Do you have just the straight shaft prime tool, or does yours have the thickened portion that plugs the hole in the back of the lifter valley? If that hole isn't plugged all the oil pressure will be bled off long before it gets to the pushrods, I think.

We have the cheap one off amazon
Found this one at summitt and jegs which looks to be made better and has larger spacing in bushing. The PDTool got stuck on the shaft and came out when tool was removed https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/23640/10002/-1 |
I took an old worn out distributor and made one. Gutted the insides and took the rotor shaft to a bench grinder to round off the shaft...then took the grinder to the distributor gears to take them down and whala! :D
this is not mine but a pic i found online of the same idea. :) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...20c6746717.jpg |
We thought about that but don't have an old one. I think were fine and maybe just get a better tool

When using an oil priming tool, make sure it’s lower collar thing is in same location as the one on your distributor.
This one is gonna have a problem moving oil up top. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...2d5291cef.jpeg |
