Electric raw water pump idea..
Anyone thought about converting to an electric water pump? You’ll have to have it on a relay of sorts or you’ll back fill your exhaust into the cylinders.

To replace your raw water pump or your circ pump?

I thought the same thing. Something that could be mounted where you could service it easily. There must be a reason no body has done it.

Would have to be a pretty serious electric water pump. The belt driven bravo pumps move a serious amt of water. If the bravo location is kickibg your azz and if If you have room, think about going crank mounted. Several semi recent threads on this.

For...why? What purpose? Other than a MINISCULE reduction on parasitic drag for the ICE, what possible advantage could there be, and at what cost in complexity of the system?

My turbine boats that had water cooled exhaust all had electric water pumps. They flowed a ton of water but were also pretty heavy. In my mind an engine mounted pump on a gas engine is a lot simpler.

Complicating things that aren't complicated. Mechanical water pumps are simple, proven, and won't ignite fuel vapors.

Im converting back to the belt driven from the front crank driven. I haven’t yet pulled the impeller from the front crank mount pump but I’d guess it’s about half the size and mass.
