Travis,
Here is the phone number for Erson Cams. 800-641-7920. Ask for Steve Tanzi and he will help you pick the right cam for your application. Solid rollers give a wider power band and generally a flatter torque curve as opposed to hydraulic rollers. This plays well especially in a light boat. You can run a looser prop that really pulls hard in the mid range, and still have a great top end because you can just let her sing. 6000 plus RPM is no problem on a SBC. My dads 355 has 7 seasons with a solid roller and no problems. This motor turns 6000 RPM natural and 6500 on the nitrous. We don't change props, we just let her sing more R's with no prob. I think this winter we are going to pull his motor for a refresh and to try to find some more speed.:D There are a lot of people afraid of solid rollers because of some of the horror stories told on OSO. Most of those are told by big block guys. ;) Good luck!! Craig |
Back about 20 yrs ago, I was into Mini Coopers and David Visard tought me how to build a 130 hp BMC 4cyl.
Traviss, great thread man!!!! |
Thanks wette vette, i'll drop him a line when I get time :)
My roller lifters are held straight in the bore by a retainer that holds guide plates over the lifter bores, so who makes a solid rolller that works with this GM lifter guide setup. I am not for running rollers with connecting bars, buddies at GM have tested them and it was never a good turnout.. |
