Exactly the point...your builds are mild and you still had a failure.....maybe actually consider the advice given to you on here instead of going against it and doing whatever you want....I feel like we've been down this road before....:party-smiley-004:

Hey PQ290 what all needs to be replaced to convert to a roller cam? I have a flat tappet but everything needs to be replaced so it seems like the right time to convert. Is there a retrofit lifter set you used?

So your running solids? Just curious how many hours btwn setting the lash. In reality I assume solids vs hyd should be the same timeframe if everyone goes by their 0, 1/4 turn, 1/2 lash etc etc.

same wearing parts although hyd yes may be a little more forgiving before noticing a failures.

On the same note I picked up about 20 hp + just tightening the lash on the intakes. Went from .020 to .012. I’m just not sure why more people just don’t run solids unless running the best of the best hyd. If I were to go back to hyd I’d go the isky route for sure. Just not sure how they’d hold up with my cam dur/lift. Rookie and many others have had great luck with those especially with routine rebuild. With net surfing my next would be Johnson’s but have no experience with.

no running hyd right now but coming up on time to build some new power.

Why don’t the GM lifters get any respect ? They do in the small block and ls world. They’ve seemed to do fine in a bunch of bbc street and marine builds too, just not much talk/recommendations of them.

they do but you need a gen 6 block so that makes it tough for some. the GM lifters work great and hold up great up to their lift limit so if someone could figure a good way to retrofit them to an older block they would make some money.

I have the stock roller lifters in a 1987 350 I made a 383 out of. Lingenfelter high lift cam and stupid spring pressures. Been running fine for 20+ years and still going. I remember back when I was building that eng, everyone said the factory roller lifters are good enough. Seems to be true.

Does anyone set hyd valve lash with eng running any more? I've had nothing but good luck doing that way. Can be a bit messy but it's almost fool-proof.
