94 mph with a 20" pitch prop...?
The BOATING magazine 2023 Buyer's Guide tested a Bass Cat Jaguar, running a Merc 450R, 1.60:1 gear ratio, says it had a 20" pitch Bravo 4 (outboard) prop, and ran 94 mph @ 6,000 rpm. How can that be possible? The math says that needs to be more like a 28" pitch prop.
Right? Am I missing something? I wrote to the editor asking for an explanation, we'll see if he responds. |
Typose happen. :)

One of those numbers has to be a typo. "If" correct the prop is about 32% more efficient than is possible.
