Cool Fuel Module filter change out.

Now is the time I start looking for parts deals for my boat. Every January I start PM's on the boat and trailer. And every year I change out the DAMN OEM Disk filter now ($44) and the OEM cylindrical filter ($70) times two. I know what I'm going to do. It's what I do every year. I'm going to look to the sky, shake my fist, cuss out Mercury for the outrageous prices and buy the damn things.

Every year I see the china knock-offs for $13 for both filters and wonder. Do the really work. Has anyone used them? Done any testing on them? Micron tests?

Has anyone replaced the disk filter with your old ladies maxi and just blew the other out with air? Asking for a friend........

Subscribing.
Price lncrease last few yrs is nuts.
Thinking bigger paper filter really doesn’t need to be replaced each year.
My bigger concern is the small disc one that i believe is /is in the water separating portion.

Haha I wondered the same thing. Bought the Yinlowa amazon filter kit. Compared to Merc, you could interchange them and not know. I installed a set and checked fuel pressure. Same as Merc filters. 47psi KOEO on my setup. I only average 25-30 hrs per season anymore. Have been running them since 2020. Change yearly.

Which cool fuel module does this apply to? Wasn't aware of filter other than my spin on water seperator.
Thanks

It applies to Merc's Gen 3 CF. Crack a beer and smile you have the OLDER and BETTER setup.

So I bit the bullet and kicked the dirt like I do every year. Found a seller on eBay that sold the disc and cylindrical filter with seals for $98. Bought two. My thinking is it's cheaper than purchasing injectors clogged with crap because of ****ty filters.

Still curious if anybody uses the Chinese knockoffs for as cheap as $8 on eBay for the set per engine.

I believe they had their problems in the past. I think mercruiser used the wrong paint or primer or prep in the beginning and the paint flaked off and got into the fuel system. I fortunately don't have that problem. This system has worked well and problem free for me. Knock on wood....

I feel your pain and don't understand why someone hasn't changed out the high dollar fuel box with the old Gen 2 cool fuel?

The old Gen 2 cool fuel can handle 500+HP and uses the standard spin on fuel filter.
