Blower Cam recommendation
 

I need help selecting a good cam for my new motor project.

454 .060 over
8:1 forged pistons
GM rectangular port heads
B&M 250 with (2) 800 Holley's

Leaning towards hy. flat tappit (cost) but will consider hy. roller.

Team Chaos members have had very good luck with a couple different Federal Mogul grinds. Talk to Waterfoul about them.

Not up on blower cams but that sounds like way too much carb doesnt it.

I plan on putting it on the dyno to dial it in. I will adjust the jets accordingly...........

A single 800 would do just fine , with less hassles

Crane has a good cam. The part # is 139741. I have been using it for several years with the same set up that you posted. Troy Dennis used the same cam in a 540 with a mega blower and the engine made 825hp with 7lbs of boost.

I'm using the crane 731, just a tad larger than the hp 500 cam. This is an excellent cam, am using it in a similar package that you want, except for 502,bm250, w/2x 750, slightly lower comp, 8 lbs boost. Hope this helps

Hey Byron, I am running the Crane Hydro 139731 for a referance for you. From what I understand, the 741 made about 20 more top end HP and lost about 20 pounds of tq in the middle. Someone else may be able to verify that. If you are not going to spin it over 52 or 5300, you may want to stay with the 731 if you choose hydro. Should help the tq. Take that for what it is worth and all, but hope this helps. Later, can't wait to dyno this cheif.....maybe we can have a little battle of the blowers out at Sattlers....:D :D :D Don't make me go bigger *****.......
