solid roller vs hyd roller profile comparison
Anyone made the switch from hyd roller cams to solid roller? looking for comparison numbers on duration to avoid reversion.
|
What about solid roller lifter on hydro lobe?
|
I've thought about that as well with a tight lash ( .004 - .006) but hydraulic lash ramps are pretty aggressive because they can rely on the hydraulic cushion to moderate the initial hit. Once a solid starts opening, they have much higher open rates than hydraulic, thus the 20 plus degrees duration more @.200 lift that i wouldn't take advantage of with a hydraulic profile.

I ran 2 hydraulic roller cam lobe cams with solid rollers. Both were custom for me. It all depends on the lobe. It is best to contact the cam manufacturer and get their advice, if you can do it or not. Both were 010 lash. If the lash is too tight, the valves can hang open when cold, not good.
One of my friends with a turbo sbf installed solid rollers on his comp cam. Comp said np. He picked up .3 and 3mph in the 1/4 mile with it. |

I love my SR’s (inverse radius lobes) from mike jones (jones cams) for my 565’s. They pull extremely hard, easy on valvetrain and sound BA. Many including myself have run solids on hyd rollers with success but I wanted to go a different route this time and very happy.

I've run solids on my HR lobes since '06 my builder has done it for 30 yrs. Also spoke with Comp and they said problem and with their HUC lobes it's a good combination.

When running solids on a hyd profile, what do you do with spring pressures? The solid roller is lighter, but your still a cast cam so you can't get too crazy with pressures.
I would only run 8620 core, if possible. |
