Dominator 1:1 to Progressive

On a Single Plane Intake is there any reason not to run a Dominator "Progressive" linkage instead of 1:1?
Thanks

I'd think the progressive would be a little friendlier and less froggy around the docks. I always ran 1:1 in my drag cars but the street driven stuff got the progressive.

I might even still have a progressive cam laying around in my toolbox somewhere.

Agreed. On 3-circuit Dominators it can be a struggle keeping them "clean" through transition to the mains. I think it's worth a try next spring. Progressive should allow a bit of time for the primaries to pull up the rpm band then the secondary 3-circuit comes in.

I have mine set up where the front is about 25 percent open then the secondary starts to open. This is on a 2 circuit it took some work to get it to run clean.

I like that thought of 20-30% primary blade opening then start Secondaries. I've tracked down all 3 offerings of cams -current 1:1, "Soft" Progressive, Progressive.

most dont run 3 circuit on boats due to the rich condition trying to bring the boat up. they are not like the cars where you have a transmission and are accelerating thru the range and a relatively fast pace. the 2 circuits are cleaner. you can convert a 3 to a 2 pretty easy if that is what works to clean it up.

Thanks and Agreed. 3-Circuits and High Stall Converters work well for Drag Cars. But It's the cards I'm dealt. And with 2 it gets pricey to replace. I've considered the conversion, but Holley is pulling back on all of their "conversion" kits for these. Even the Cams for my progressive try are all but gone.
Some of the original guys doing this are retired or closed up. If you Sir have a combination for conversion please do share. If not here please Message directly... And Thank You

I ran/run 1150 - 2 circuit I believe to be 7320 but could be wrong on # however bone stock on my marine 565’s. They love em. No issues anywhere other than the timing (docking) due to the fact I haven’t installed my cd1’s.

Yes Sir.
Mine are 8896's. I opened the air bleeds to 100+ for the 3rd. Leaned out OK. Kind of a cheat. I still run Power Valves. All Four are 3.5 with my camshafts. It's really not bad but i like a clean transition.

You can get external secondary linkage and do away with all that stuff inside the carb. Then you can adjust the opening how you want it. I got mine from BLP.
