Replacement Alternator & Starter
Before I drop my engines back in this spring, I want to replace my starter and alternators. Looking to use API Marine, looking for any feedback on quality and longevity. Any other manufactures to check out beside Mercury?

I know OEM equipment is expensive but I would stick with mercury.

OEM Mercury. You"ll thank us later.

Decent shop can rebuild the ones you have, buying new these days is like a box chocolates

I've had good luck with powermaster 8500 alternator, you will need an aftermarket alternator bracket for 1/4" more clearance

They can rebuild and replace parts etc. Best option IMHO. |
Suggestion, to save money put a mercury starter on the port motor which is the more difficult to change and a rebuilt or aftermarket on the starboard starter which is easier to get to.

These have never let me down.
https://www.rareelectrical.com/i-268...s-horizon.html I also have a rebuilt IMI top mount. https://www.hitorque.com/product_p/imi-302-001.htm |
