Stud Girdles
 

Currently finishing up a 540 BBC. 243/249 duration and .662/646" lift. I'm running AFR heads and have stud girdle and Tall valve covers for them. The issue I have is im reusing the Vortech 502MAG MPI supercharger system and with the tall valve covers Im not able to mount the supercharger because the valve covers block the superchargers intake by about two inches. trying to determine if the girdles are necessary. In comparison the 525EFI cam is similar.

Any time you can stabilize the valve train its a win, Id figure out a way to use them

we run more cam and heavier springs solid bullet cam wind it up to 7000 no stud girdle and no problems

I would have to agree with both posts. Cam almost seems like a famous BM grind?

Would any other style of girdles work with current set up! Only options I’d see is possible custom covers, exp shaft rockers or run w/o like bro said.

That lobe profile is a little concerning for endurance ext runs however I’m probably over thinking it.

Brad Smith told me years back that he did back to back dyno pulls on a SBC around 420 cu in with and without stud girdles and the engine made 20 more hp with the girdles installed, and went on to say if he didn't see it for himself he might not believe it.

I never ran stud girdles, 6300rpm without issues. Never liked stud girdles.
Set the valvetrain up right including enough spring pressure youll be fine.
My opinion is it just tranfers vibrations thruout the valvetrain but dont take my word for it, I can only build "garbage motors" so..

Your gonna find there is most likely no physical way to do it, the first pair of whipple sidemounts bbcs i built i installed stud girdles, when it came time to put the superchargers on, I realized it was physically impossible and could not be done. You could upgrade to arp pro 200,000 psi rocker studs, there claimed to be more rigid, I have used them on quite a few engines, never swapped them on dyno thpough where I could say they flexed less and made more hp, Smitty
