Well I don't know Ken's business model but there was a pile of LS stuff there in the fall. I personally would not turn down any work these days or repeat customers. I went with him on the LS as I think there are about 6 or so LS shops in the country with a good following.

On the other hand I went local for the BBC's and everyone knows all those tricks to get them to make good power. They all should after 50 years of working on them. forgot 60 years, I'm getting old as well.

Don't get me wrong displacement is what I like but can't dispute a little 3.6 liter twin turbo putting out 1100hp ether, got 1 in a old 991 and it is a little Rocket. Not a marine engine but my money would be on the little motorr against even a blown BBC.

I have NO knowledge of the LS platform other than continued rave reviews.

What is the general consensus though on LS platform VS example 572 Tall Decks with the following at play.
1500 hp to 1700 hp
Turbo's
Marine
Pushing 38 to 46 hull
Weight 10K to 20K

Are you saying GM had forced induction in mind when they designed the LS, or are you claiming the LS1 was boosted in certain cars?
If the latter, in which application?

They look great! I hope they are as reliable as they look! Thanks for starting a thread! Please understand some of us may doubt that an LS, especially over 1000hp, let alone 6 or 700hp, will outperform a big block in any way that really matters in the marine world. Wakeboard and ski boats, 600hp-ish, heck yeah! But offshore poker run boat, just haven't seen it done successfully. Again thank you for sharing and hope to hear positive stories in a few years!

Have to backpedal a little on the weight difference between the LS and BBC after checking. It is less than the 500lbs. It sure seems that much moving both complete engines around the shop. Have to take one less cooler or two on the next outing to make up the difference :ernaehrung004:.

Really it is a sort of a no point on weight when I can start the day with 200 gallons of gas and end the day with 50 gallons in the tank. That is like 1000lbs difference. "Drain" a few cases of beer and lose the wife and ice the second half of the day that is another 250lbs.

This is the debate of new vs old, chocolate vs vanilla, big vs small, etc. There are thousand of post and articles on LS vs BBC going on for years. I just what to talk about and say there are options for I/O's

28 foot Domn8er in Lake Havasu. LS 1325hp/1160tq. IMCO SCX drive. Maybe SCX4 we are still figuring the X dimension with this combo.
The other boats:
34 foot Magic Scepter has 825 Teague's and XR drives. 1400 Teague's and SCX drives are going in. It is older and made when they were producing a good product. It is known as a tank but checks off most of my want list. It will be the Poker Run Boat.
