7.3 Godzilla marine application

Just curious what is being used for exhaust manifolds?

Wildman_grafix 05-15-2024 07:45 AM

Where have you seen it in a marine application?

bajaman 05-15-2024 04:37 PM

Yeah...there isn't a 'mainstream' manufacturer offering the Godzilla for marine use.

Good question....you tell us...you'll probably the first to do it.

Would be nice to have a modern larger cu in motor available.

My bet is that the Godzilla is coming in marine form at the OEM level, but most likely for wake boats and not I/O's. Someone like Hardin marine has already considered and may even be developing some conversion items. If GM is still doing 8.1's (I am assuming they still do), then how much better would a Godzilla be? We have already seen that the LS motors start out at a disadvantage in a boat because of the cubic inches deficit. The Godzilla is basically a bigger LS, but "only" 7.3 liters.

GM sold the rights for the 8.1 to PSI engine Co.

There was GM talk and intent to build a medium duty gas engine for medium duty trucks. Going LS style treatment. That was pre-covid in 2019.

It may be on the cutting room floor at this point.

That being said, there are some amazing BBC aftermarket heads that give lots of potential. BBC iron block is relatively light at 220lbs bare with caps and bolts. Iron LS block is 200lbs.

The PSI engines are promising.
