8.1 Help!
Hi,
I have a VP 8.1gi-EF with serial number 4012111070. We have two dead injectors and there are no OEM injectors in Western Canada. Questions: 1) The injectors I pulled out of the boat were Delphi 25348180. Are these correct for my motor? 2) Can I run a GM injector? I found a replacement chart. Can I run any of these injectors? I would replace all 8, if so. Delphi FJ10471 General Motors 12575073 General Motors 17114101 General Motors 25176061 OEM 25348180 OEM 17113739 OEM 25176061 3) I have an opportunity to buy an 8.1OSI-CF out of a salvage boat. I need other parts like the heat exchanger, etc. Would those injectors work in my gi-EF? Are there any big differences between those two 8.1s? Thank you! |

Smitty (ArcticFriends here on OSO) is another option, and maybe a bit closer. He has been able to revive quite a few injectors. You also might want to get to figuring out what caused the injectors to fail. If they are clogged with debris, figure out where it’s coming from. I had my injectors (496HO; same engine) cleaned and reconditioned, and it really woke the boat up. Two years later, however, it would appear we took out a piston due to a lean condition, which may very well have been from clogged injectors again. My first suspicion is an internally rusting fuel rail. We are currently in the discovery phase. The injectors are on their way to Smitty as we speak. Just an FYI. Thanks. Brad. |
Did the question of alternate injectors get answered? Delphi is GM. Do any of those injectors he mentioned work? Just curious.
