Have a 502 Shor t block w merc I beam rods what do all the numbers mean on side by rod bolts,what is minum side clearnce

Post a pic, are you talking about the rod and cap stamping 1 thru 8 if so its to keep them matched up and what hole they go in

If the 3 digit number is 153 and other rod is 244 that's 90 grams different in rod . You would think the rods would be closer tolerance being a high quality item t h a n k s

My guess is they are some serialization by the manufacturer of the rods.
Minimum side clearance? Whatever the service manual calls for. Or standard BBC specs.
