Power Steering Pump Re-Locate
 

Anybody have any experience with relocating or lowering a power steering pump on a 502 block? Currently, the pump is mounted on the port side of the stb block above the alternator and sits too high. Need to lower it or move it to the stb side of the engine but also needs to sit lower. Any suggestions or experience?

I'm pretty sure if you mount the pump lower than where your hydraulic cylinder (s) are, you can run into issues with air in the system

Is it hitting the exhaust or ?? I used an Imco alt/ps bracket before but I think it actually raised the PS pump to clear the manifold.

No not hitting, boat has a low freeboard and engines sit close to the sun pad/cover. No room to install the reservoir tank, which is not a big deal as long as we get all the air out and it does not develop any leaks. He will just have to check the pump fluid level manually each time he checks the engine oil. Every day. RyanW, did not think about the pump being too low. Thanks for pointing that out.
