Flywheel difference Top and Bottom Mount Starter

Can someone school me on the difference in top and bottom mount starter flywheels/ring gears. I am going from the bottom mounted starter on the Merctrans to a top mounted starter on the borg warner velvet drive transmission. I read sorting though posts that the ring gear could need to be flipped? I didn't know if that means from the the back of the flywheel to the front of the flywheel, or just turning it over.
Thanks, the machine shop has it now.

ring gear needs to be moved from the inside of the flywheel to the outside(clutch surface.you'll see separation of the mounting surfaces when you pop the ring gear off.so,move ring gear to the clutch/adapter side of flywheel

I read some information on ring gear teeth before I sent the flywheel to the machine shop. Some of the automotive teeth on the ring gear are not symmetrical. It appears mine is symmetrical. If there is a difference I can not see it. These photos are after the machine shop moved the ring gear. I did not specify the orientation of it.I don’t have the engine off my stand yet to mock up the bell housing and starter. Going to be good or no? Thankshttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...be28d1b5a.jpeg

I have a top starter flywheel I can post some photos and measurments. For a BBC, but the alignment, ring gear, bellhousing etc should be the same for SBC.
