496ho Cam Sensor for Block Code 2XA (2002)
 

Hi,

I am replacing cam sensor in my 2002 496HO (0M348692) block 2XA. I'm aware that GM made at least three different cam sensor variants for GM build dates in 2001, 2002-2003, and 2004+. Mercury indicates part number 881666 for block 2XA which is no longer available. Mercury Tech indicated corresponding GM part is 12575182, which also is indicated by some aftermarket manufacturers. However, GM publications disagree and say 182 is a 2001 part number. GM indicates cam sensor part #12575183 for 2002-2003 engines. I've read through most of the threads here but haven't got a definitive answer. Some suggest that 12575183 is correct. Is there anyone with a 2XA or 3XA (2002-2003 Mercruiser 496) who has replaced their cam sensor and that can provide the correct part number?
