Thats probably about right.. Inductive loads have high initial current draws until it settles... Not really worth worrying about for something like this, but just more of an FYI.. The one thing I will mention is, ABYC requires a minimum AWG of 16, which would more than cover your butt for a 2.5A load and its inrush current. |

Google’s AI says 14ga for 2.5A at 25’ run length, which I figure I’ll be pretty close to. Found some on Amazon. Thanks. Brad. |
I just measured a spare one with my Fluke (non lab meter) and it gave me 5.6, well within tolerance. Remember on the wire to get marine grade that is full tinned.

One small correction, for the record.. You divide 14 by the Ohms. Just to avoid confusion for future readers. So, I get a 5.5 Ohms, if I'm reading the meter correctly (I'm not a fan of auto-ranging meters). 14 / 5.5 brings me to ~2.55A. Sound about right? Thanks. Brad. |
