Removing water from gas tank

I’ve got water in my gas tank. I was thinking of accessing the tank through the fuel level sensor. I was going to get the nose as high as possible a drop in a tube connected to a manual transfer pump and start pumping away. Sound like a good plan?

thats what i do make sure your pump is well away from the fumes i use an aluminum tube about 3 foot long and connect the pump hose to it all dirt and water will go to lowest corner i lift and tilt the boat to get it all to one corner

I didn't have water in the tank but I did want to remove all of the gas that sat in there for almost 2 years while I was redoing the engines. I just used one of the hose's to the fuel pump and attached it to a small Holley electric fuel pump. Once it was done, I put in about 5 gallons of fresh REC gas and sloshed it around (used my small tractor to lift and drop the tongue) and then pumped that out.
