fuel polishing
What's up with that?......60 gallons of 6 yr. old fuel - just had all my injectors serviced, all new fuel filters etc; etc......just wondering how this service works
|
old gas loses octane fuel polishing is for diesel where they run it thru filters to get the algae that can grow in diesel removed
|
Fuel Polishing is for all contaminants.
Gas can have water and particulate contamination. There's also services that will come and harvest your old gas/fuel as well. I have 100 gals of low octane gas from 2020. Was a covid precaution. Used the correct amount of stabilizer. The gas is still in good shape. I woulsn't run it in anything perf oriented. |
I wouldn't run 6 year old fuel in anything, no matter what was done to it.
|
Yea, I've done all the gas stabilizers through the years but never completely ran through the remaining 60 or so gals. its 6 yr. old gas and not surprised when the injectors came back
word was they were pretty clogged.....siphoning out 60 gals of fuel on my own is a no go....just thought about polishing option. |
Fuel big issues changed fuel filters 2-3 times a season down south and up North with other boat :hitfan:But down here 10x's worse storms did a number most SW Florida gas stations etc.

scippy, get you one of those big plastic totes, electric pump and some hose is all you need, done it a couple times

if it removes contaminants & water and adds octane that might be the answer.....I'm a "no" on siphoning off 60 gals. no suitable place for that. |
I need to check out what actually fuel polishing accomplishes. if it removes contaminants & water and adds octane that might be the answer.... |
Do a google search on how long do aromatics in gasoline last . I’m sure you’ll learn some good things. :)
|
You seriusly think running it thru a filter adds octane?
To reuse that fuel would f ing dumb. Not that hard to pump it out and put it in a 50 gallon barrel. |
