1988 engine synchronization
My new to me 88 liberator
has an engine sync gauge in the middle of instrument panel book is vague as irs instructions OM states adjust throttles to keep pointer centered..problem is it never moves I assume' the guage uses vacum to swing the indicator left or right. Or somehow tied to throttles Problem is. Where the heck is the vacuum taken from and if there is a special black box somewhere There is no electronics on either engine anyone have a guess Thanks |
it reads off the gray tach or minus side of coil wire

Now I need to pull the tachs and see if the wires are connected to gauge The tacHs are replacement and i have no idea when. But the face is slightly different from 1988 Thank you |
most of those syncro gauges were only good for a few years before they died so dont get too hung up on it. learn the boat and you should be able to tell by the harmonics of the engines when they are in sync but takes a little time to learn the feel of them

My old helicopter ears will pick up little nuances easy enough, I want to keep instrument panel as original as possible , will add source a new gauge to maintain the look, Tachs are a few years old Speedo is dead. going to put in very similar faced gps unit Depth sounder gauge is inop The garmin old unit they put in dash area is freaking ugly and not fitting But I sm going to put in a modern garmin with lakes info...still working a few thoughts on how to make it easy to see, but not take away from look of dash area. boat looks toooo good to chop up dash area https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c52cbfc6dd.jpg |
