Formula 292’s have twin small blocks and go pretty good.

I care more about cyl heads and cid than i do cross plane cranks…..in boat rpm ranges especially.

It got big blocks in the resto but the original had small blocks for the speed record.

I was thinking more about the sound of the flat planes, not necessarily top speed capabilities.

I remember seeing pics of a surface drive 26 hustler with small blocks that ran 100+. It was red. May have been for sale.

400 hp?

Other than the flat crank doesn't seem like a big deal. Not sure why Mercury is doing it.

These have been out for a while, look at what they put in the wake boats.

Or if you really want some power.

Speaking of Direct Injection...does anyone have any examples of direct injection on marine engines? Are the intake valves coking up?

Was thinking with marine engines working harder all the time, they either have less issues...or more than the auto cousins.
