PowerBoatr,

Actually, yes. We are an actual contract custom machining job shop operation. That's what we do. We are not an automotive machine shop. This is the first set of heads I've ever had my hands on in my shop. It is just convenient when my needs/interests and my skill set and equipment list come together.

Thanks. Brad.

Guys,

Not really sure which of my various threads to put this in, but….

Finally got some decent weather and got the engine rigged up next to the boat and hit the key….

Really happy with this. It has a slight hesitation when you tap the throttle, but we had been fighting a bad TPS connection all summer that was causing the ECM to hit the acceleration enrichment, which was significantly affecting AFR tuning. We’ve got a new TPS and connecter, and haven’t gotten around to resetting the TPS range. Plus, it’s got a new cam and a smaller blower wheel, again with no retune as of yet. It’s running in closed loop, so it’s compensating, but I’m sure all this is having its effect.

We also got to it and got it dropped into the boat. Now I just have to reassemble all the crap that had to come off to get it in the boat (oil cooler, intercooler, PS reservoir and catch can.

Thanks. Brad.

Guys,

Initial firing revealed the new Raylar cam doesn’t draw nearly as much vacuum at idle, and it was running STOOPID rich; so much so it was loading up and fouling the plugs to the point it wouldn’t start after the initial firing. After some tweaking, we got the under control. Had to open up the throttle blade a bit, as my tuner didn’t like that the IAC was running at ~45%, and he likes to see 5-10%. Gonna need the entire sweep for shifting into gear.

Thanks. Brad.

you can drill the hole in the throttle blade bigger.if you don't have one, drill one, start at 3/16",go up from there slowly.

Sutphen,

There's already a hole in the throttle blade. About a Ø5/16" if memory serves.

We already got it sorted out. We just ran the physical stop screw in until the IAC compensation dropped to where he was happy, then reset the TPS range. It didn't take much adjustment.

Thanks. Brad.
