Oil Cooler Cleaning and Filter Location

Was looking to flush clean my oil coolers, and a lot of posts on not using oil coolers after an engine failuure or an unkown oil cooler.

Is there any reason to not filter the oil after the oil cooler? Seems like a logical solution to a potential issue. One member pointed out that even new oil coolers can have manufacturing slag/debris in the cooler.

My 6.7 in my truck
filters oil after the cooler, etc
But using a cooler from a damaged engine is a bad way to save money
You csn clean flush etc
But prudence is use a new one, just like transmission cooler. Never re use them

Not saying a new one may or may not have slap
you could flush with fresh oil
But me as an aircraft mechanic since moses first flew.....never use a cooler from a damaged engine or transmission or anything
