More Questions about drive showers
Drive shower
I saw this in another thread (link above). It looks like a great idea. Continuous water flow. This is the first I have seen this set up. Why don't I see more of these out there? Is there something wrong with this set up? |
Mike,
What's the point? When you stop , the whole top of the drives in the water anyway (usually). When you start moving , you have water out of any other shower. This one also requires another hole though the boat which could leak:rolleyes: I just got a pair of Simreks for mine. Simplest , cheapest and  est |
Don't know about the set up you posted or how where it getting its water from.
Last year, I hit a small piece of something, plastic I think, and it ran between my prop and drive shower p/u. Bent the crap out of the p/u and broke the corner off the cavitation plate. I didn't want it to happen again so I had the upper water jacket in the drive drilled and tapped and ran braided SS hose from upper drive to the drive shower. Now, all the water that goes into my drive gets dumped on top of it. Keep in mind that I have a hull mounted p/u for engine cooling. |
No problem with it but like mopower said "what's the point"?
I also use the simrek. It works great, and I had it installed in less than 30 minutes. Griff - your setup sounds pretty slick. |
