Staggered or Side by Side

I’m replacing my TRS’ with Pulse Drive. The guys at Pulse said I could do what I want. Currently I have a 38’ Scarab with staggered 800hp, I’m thinking of bringing them back to side by side. That would allow me another 4’ of cockpit
Any suggestions

Thanks

Bob

One advantage of staggerd motors over side by side is that you can run a higher X dimension while still having good trim control. That shouldn't be an issue with a surface drive since there's very litttle drag from them anyway. However, the lower on the hull you get the drive, the better trim control you'll generally have.
Changing the weight distribution to a sise by side might actually be an advantage. Surface drives generally dont provide as much bow lift, so moving some weight back would probably be a good idea.
If you set it up with staggered engines, you might have some fabrication work. According to a previous thread the trust load is carried by the tranny, not the transom. I would think you would have to fabricate a carrier bearing at the transom that was also capable of transferring the thrust load to the stringers. Maybe Pulse already makes these.
On the downside, you might have to change you stringer configuration to get side by side engines mounted. Is it a 377 raised deck Scarab?

My $0.02,
Go with the side by side.
Gary
