question on sea pump/fuel pump

Need some help here, I have a 29 outlaw with twin 454mag- efi's, it is a 1997, I pulled the sea pumps with the fuel pumps[mechanical] still on the sea pump, I changed out the impeller housing and impeller every thing is going great, then I saw fuel spill out of the vent? tube that the clear yellow hose hooks to on the fuel pump, I also saw a plug on the fuel pump drive that is a fill plug i am guessing, I think the fuel pump diaphragm is blown? and what kind of oil or fluid goes into the fuel pump drive at the front of the sea pump,[it has a combo of gas and oil in it] it has a little sticker near the plug that say's something about see mercury engine manual , any idea's ?

Yep, Merc geal lube. Wouldn't know why you couldn't use the synthetic stuff though. And yes, it does sound like your pump went south.
