29Outlaw,
Yes I have, I did it as "scientific"
as i could, ran it outward, noted
max speed on gps, ran to the trailer,
reversed the props, ran again,
noted max. gps.
Inside rotation was .1 mph
faster, the handling was a little
weird, and dock manueverabilty
sucks, I decided to leave them
outward.

BTW, i'm running 30p bravo's
aren't you running 3 blades ?
I don't know, maybe they
would behave differently,
it's easy enough to do.

FYI,
Ran 4 blade 31" SSM III cleavers on 31' Chris cat, twin 525SCs.
Out, barely got on plane, only ran 75mph.
In, popped on plane instantly, rode 12" higher out of the water, 101 mph.
Kind of a big difference.

Gary,
That's not a big difference,
it's a HUGE difference:D :D

JT,

In your case, I figured as much. That's why I see no need to experiment with my setup.

Very interesting thread. Hope not to offend Betterton, but I have a question on this as well.

I have an 87 Baja Force 280 with twins that have RH rotating alphas. I am looking at replacing one drive with a LH. Stern drives recommends the LH on the port side. Which to me means I will have stern lift. Agree or disagree?

Anyone have experience on this old of a Baja? Looks like about a $3000 change out?

Thanks, Jim

Jimmybaja,
I have a 1988 Baja Force 320 with Bravo's. I switched the cables at the controls so that I would have counter-rotating drives. A Bravo drive doesnt know which way it is spinning.

Jimmybaja,
Sorry, I read your post again and realized that you said that you had alphas, so you wont be able to switch cables.

Looking for what performance issues I will have once I install the counter rotating aplha? Do I want to have them turn inward or outward for this hull design?

Jimmy,
Your boat is about the same size as
mine, I'm assuming your going to
just add the l/h rotation lower ?
From my experiences, I would
run them outward, this is what
I have found most user friendly.

If the curiosity bug bites,
all you have to do is swap
drives from side to side.

Were do you boat?
I havent seen any 280's
up on saylorville.
