Don't trust those specs!

I removed a camshaft from a Gen VI Mercruiser engine with roller lifters and sent it to Comp Cams to be measured and it came back with the specs Floridian Son gave.

mine was in the VERY low 8's when we measured....most were under 8 1/2. this was pre 96 when i was doing these.

The cam spec given by findme 211-227 .511-.511 were used on the gen 5 engines ( im not sure about mkIV) the newer gen 6 are 224-224 .483-.483

built to spec ( blueprinted) CR should be 8.75, mine measured out at 8.78 however have been told by a merc rebuild depot the factory engines are all over 8.5 to 8.8

My MkIV 502 service manual shows identical specs as the Gen6 (224/224 .483/.483).

OK Thanks to everyone for all the replies.

Okay, I'm confused.

My Gen6 service manual shows 511/511 lift and 211/227 duration. I believe the 483 lift cam is the Gen 5 cam.
