Newbie ? re: Bravo

Ok this will certainly show my experience level with caring for boats. My question is what do I need to run the engines in my boat out of water. I know you can hook the hose to the drives but I do not know what adapter I need. Also where can I buy the equipment needed. The reason is I would rather do some of the work such as changing oil at my house before I put the boat in the water at the marina. My boat has HP500EFI and Bravo XZ Drives. Thanks.

Theres two ways. If you want to keep the hose external, there are some muffs that will go over the water pickup. The strut mounted pickup will take one that looks like two suction cups. The low water pickup takes one that fits over the nose. The second way is to disconnect the intake hose from the transom assembly, stuff the garden hose into it and tighten the clamp.

Or, you could install a fresh water flush system inside the engine compartment.

If you go with the muffs over the intake try to buy one with a wire going through the drive to make sure they stay in place. The others rarely move unless someone kicks the hose etc. but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Allways have the water running!
Turn the water on full blast.
Start Engine - don't run more than 1500 rpm or so
Stop Engine
Then turn water off

Extra water will gust run out the sides. Not enough water and you will burn up the rubber impeller that sucks in the water.

Happy flushing!

Take your pic,,, throw a little duct tape over the other holes, but keep an eye on it.
