Roller vs hydraulic life expectancy hrs?

I have been told by major engine builder that a hydraulic flat tappet cam has a longer life expectancy than a roller cam in running time before replacement is necesssary before failure.
Even though a roller is somewhat better in peak numbers, does it have the life of the flat tappet that does not have all the moving parts?

It depends

Hydraulic roller cams are used on just about every automotive and truck application out there. My Dodge Dakota has 205,000 miles on the roller cam without any trouble. If it had stiff racing valve springs it might be a different story though!
Sincerely
