Eddie Marine Exhaust Manifolds
I am currently debating to purchase a set of Eddie Marine Exhaust Manifolds with SS tube risers. The quality seems good and the price attractive. What do you Guys think of this product?

If you can afford it, go CMI. If not, Eddie Marine is not a bad way to go.
|
There's a set selling on Ebay if you hurry.
|
For manifolds I wouldn't buy anything but Stainless Marine. For headers, CMI.

Im running 800hp through the EMI's and they seem fine.

I've been doing lots of research on this issue too. I found a chart of dyno test results on a 502 with numberous different exhaust systems at http://www.arizonahotboats.com/exhaustdyno.xls
I got into it using the user name of "jimmy" and password of "secret". The top rated system is definately the Keith Eickert...but its expensive. The CMI is close behind it however, and much cheaper. Is my understanding that the Imco shown runs very close with the Eddie Marine....and I'm not impressed with the results. Theres a huge dropoff in torque around 4800 rpm. I'm looking to go with the CMI from what I've seen there. One guy told me theres some kind issuse with the Eddie Marine about the aluminum runners being inferior to the stainless used on the CMI in terms of long term degradation...but I did'nt get any details. I called Eddie Marine looking for a chart of their own on such dyno comparisons cause Hot Boat magazine said they had them.....but they "mysteriously" can't find any of them....I have a feeling the don't want them seen. If their product was so great they would do dyno testing and brag about the results. I'm waitng for a rep from CMI to call me now in regard to the same info. Looks like CMI is best for the buck though..... |
I'm running about 435 hp thru a set, as is dyno (he's about 450 hp or so), and we have no complaints. I also used to run a set of IMCO powerflow's, EMI's seem to be right on par with them, for a bit less $.

the used set on ebay just sold for $725 with cast risers. He said they had 15 hours on them and they were purple anodized (unknown if anodized/powder coated at EMI or ?) He said he was selling them cause they would'nt fit under his motor cover on a 35' cigarette......

I've run EMI's for 2 years on a 502 7psi procharger with no problems. True long tube headers will scavenge better. This year Ive went to the SS risers because the outlet is about 1/4-3/8 larger in diameter. Greg
