Correct Injectors?
 

I just did a search on the injectors off of my engine, they are Lucas D3181AA, 42.5#, 009 Disc Style Injectors.

How do you determine if these are correct for a particular engine configuration? I anticipate 625+ HP. Is anyone familiar with these injectors, they are suppose to be from a 502.

It goes by flow rate, in pounds per hour, and depending on how much fuel your particular motor burns per hp per hour. There are charts for the flow rate and psi per horsepower that they can support.
The fuel requirment is labeled as BSFC.
The formula is goes like this:
(HP * BSFC)/(number of injectors * Duty cycle of Inj.)

a typical NA motor will have a BSFC of .5.
So your motor (625 * .5)/(8 * .90)= 312.5/7.2 = 43.4lbs/hr.
Your injectors only flow 42.5 at 100%
So they are too small. You might be able to increase PSI to gain some flow, but it causes the injectors to over heat sometimes.
Now this is a rough idea of what you have. It is all dependant on the BSFC of your particular motor. Which can be measured on the dyno, difficult if not set up to measure fuel flow for fuel injection. The safest way to "make sure" is to get bigger injectors. Not too big that the duty cycle at idle cause it to loose idle quality.

By the way, does it matter if I'm running a Supercharger at 5 PSI Boost and intercooler?

Pantera, I have some injectors that I bought from Mr Gadgets that I have never used that I am willing to sell at a decent price if you're interested----he knows the size.

What size are they? Would I need to reprogram the ECU?

I did a search and found the thread again. Sorry I didnt keep up with it.. just been too busy lately..
The injectors I sold to Mark are 52 lbs/hr at 43.5 lbs. I supported 690hp at 6000rpm with these injectors..
